What is the truth behind the Nostradamus 2012 predictions? Nostradamus, as we all know, is the famous astrologist who is highly-esteemed because he is said to have the ability of knowing the future. A compilation of his prophecies in poetic forms called centuries (a form of quatrain), are also said to be proof of the aforementioned ability. And it is also being popularly said that Nostradamus has predicted the end of the world in 2012, just like he predicted it to end in the August of 1999. What is not being said, however, is the truth behind all these poorly-referenced lies.
The reality is that Nostradamus has nothing to do with 2012. In fact, he did not mention the year 2012 in any of his prophecies! And he has hundreds of prophecies to boot, and neither one of them had the year 2012, or winter solstice, or Mayan calendar written on them. The truth is that talks about Nostradamus 2012 predictions only came in light AFTER talks about the world ending in 2012 came in light. While false, it is still a logical connection because Nostradamus is a soothsayer with a reputation, and putting him onboard even without his consent would give the 2012 end of the world scenario a truer ring.
The reason why this false news became a commonality is because many people are fascinated by Nostradamus and some of his predictions themselves. While I give him credit on some of his prophecies, such as the vague yet specific quality of the anthrax scare (In one of his quatrains, he predicted “A poison hidden in the fold of letters.” Nothing could be more specific than that.) However, not many look carefully enough into what he said to discover the truth about the so-called Nostradamus 2012 prophecies. The truth is that while he may have been a very clever man and respected by many, he doesn’t foresee 2012 as the end of the world.
Nostradamus also is, in one word, overrated. Among his hundreds of predictions, only a few have come true, and these events that they connect to Nostradamus’ prophecies are also often times products of the bendable interpretations of his verses. This is one of the reasons why Nostradamus is now forcibly connected to 2012 – some of his end-of-the-world predictions which purportedly were going to come true last August of 1999, were reinterpreted again to mean that the apocalypse may happen in 2012. So, in essence, if someone is worried that the world will end in 2012, it certainly isn’t Nostradamus, famed astrologer and prophet.
Now, while Nostradamus doesn’t say so, it doesn’t in any way mean that the world will not end in 2012. Among all the doomsday dates 2012 is most documented and most believable, with the credibility of the Mayan calendar at its back. But are we to believe the doomsday prophecies? It’s up for each of us to decide. Regardless, we must always prepare for the worst whether we believe any of the so called Nostradamus 2012 predictions or not – feel free to view more articles or browse more 2012 resources.
